How to Transcribe a TED Talk
- Paste the link or upload the file: Copy the talk’s YouTube link and paste it in, or upload the video or audio file if you already have it (MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, MKV, WMV, and FLV). ScreenApp imports from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and most other public video links (Twitch, Loom, Dropbox, Google Drive, Pinterest, X, Threads, Douyin, Kuaishou, Bilibili) through a generic importer; a ted.com link itself is not one of the supported import platforms, so use the talk’s YouTube upload or download the file first.
- Let it transcribe: The audio converts to text and each speaker gets their own label, with a timestamp on every sentence.
- Review, chat and export: Read the transcript, ask the AI chat a question about the talk, and export as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT for notes or a quote.

For most published talks, yes. TED shows a transcript button under the video on ted.com, often in several languages. Check there first; ScreenApp is for talks that link only to YouTube, TEDx talks without an official transcript yet, or when you want AI chat, translation or a specific export format.
Can I paste a ted.com link directly?
