NoteGPT vs. ScreenApp

NoteGPT and ScreenApp overlap on transcripts and summaries, but they start from different places. NoteGPT is a set of AI learning and content tools that work on material you give it: a YouTube link, a PDF, an audio file or a web page. ScreenApp is a recorder first. It captures the screen, the meeting or the audio, then transcribes it and lets you work with the recording.

ScreenApp did not test NoteGPT for this page. The NoteGPT details below come from NoteGPT’s own pages, checked 18 September 2026.

What is NoteGPT?

NoteGPT turns existing content into notes. Its tools cover YouTube videos, PDFs, audio and video files, podcasts and web pages. On its pricing page, the Pro plan’s monthly quota covers transcription, summaries, mind maps, translation and AI chat. It also has an AI Flashcard Maker that works from PDF, PPT, Word, image, video or audio files and an AI Quiz Generator, listed on its homepage.

For meetings, NoteGPT’s AI meeting summarizer works from a meeting recording you upload from your device or a pasted link, with files up to 5 GB, and its summaries list action items with timestamps. NoteGPT also has Chrome and Edge extensions.

NoteGPT Pro costs $9 a month billed annually, or $9.99 billed monthly. The Unlimited plan costs $19.92 a month billed annually ($239 a year), or $29 billed monthly. NoteGPT also sells discounted group plans for at least 3 people.

What is ScreenApp?

ScreenApp records screen, window, browser tab, microphone and camera, with system audio. It has a meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, and you can record without a bot from the web app, Chrome extension, Mac and Windows apps, or iOS and Android apps. The mobile apps record audio, not the screen.

After a recording, ScreenApp transcribes it in 100+ languages, with speaker identification and up to 95.8% transcription accuracy on clear English audio in our April 2026 test (how this is measured). You get chapters with timestamps, action items with an owner and deadline, and decisions listed separately, and AI chat with any recording. You can also import YouTube, Vimeo and direct media links, so a YouTube video works too.

Where they differ

  • Source material: NoteGPT works on content that already exists. ScreenApp can capture the meeting or screen recording itself, then work on it.
  • Study tools: NoteGPT has mind maps, flashcards and quizzes today. ScreenApp lists quiz and flashcard generation (coming soon).
  • Video: ScreenApp keeps the video next to the transcript, and AI reads video frames, not just the audio. NoteGPT’s output is notes, summaries and study material.
  • Sharing: ScreenApp has team workspaces and share links. NoteGPT’s group plans are a discount for buying seats together.

Pick NoteGPT or ScreenApp

Pick NoteGPT if you mostly study from YouTube videos, PDFs and podcasts, and you want mind maps, flashcards, quizzes and translation in one subscription. NoteGPT Pro is $9 a month billed annually, against $19 for ScreenApp Pro.

Pick ScreenApp if you need to record the meeting, lecture or screen yourself, with or without a bot, and keep the video, the transcript and the AI notes together.
