Notta vs ScreenApp

Notta offers the lower listed Pro price and native meeting-tool integrations. ScreenApp supports recording workflows and library questions. Both processed our short upload; this pilot establishes no quality winner.

Notta vs ScreenApp

Consider Notta for meeting transcription, a lower listed Pro price and native team integrations. Its Free account accepted our short uploaded meeting excerpt and returned both native notes and answers to our custom prompts. Longer transcripts and downloads require attention to its plan limits.

Consider ScreenApp for recording workflows and questions across a recording library. Its Pro account processed the same excerpt and answered both prompts. Its action-item answer referenced additional recordings, so this test does not establish that the answer came only from our selected file.

Both tools handled the upload workflow. Neither has a verified speed or accuracy advantage from this pilot. Notta also supports uploaded video; a live meeting is not required.

Strengths and Trade-offs

Notta

  • A lower published Pro subscription price and native Slack, Notion and calendar connections. CRM and Zapier are listed on Business.
  • The complete short transcript remained accessible after scrolling, despite an upgrade banner. That banner was not evidence of a blocked upload.
  • Free transcript access stops at 3 minutes per recording. A recurring monthly minute allowance does not remove that limit.
  • Native summaries and Brain questions use different allowances. Check both before budgeting for frequent AI use.

ScreenApp

  • The same uploaded excerpt produced a transcript and structured answers on Pro.
  • Library chat is useful when you want related recordings considered together. It also makes a single-file comparison harder when retrieval includes other records.
  • The listed Pro price is higher, and there are no native Slack, Notion or Zapier apps.
  • Free transcriptions and uploads are trial allowances, not renewed monthly file quotas. We did not test Free in this pilot.

Notta’s native summary quota is separate from the 1,000 monthly Brain credits listed across its plans. The Brain add-on lists 8,000 monthly credits for $12.99 billed monthly or $93.59 billed yearly. Available account credits enabled our prompts; that does not mean unlimited AI questions on Free.

ScreenApp chats and templates share an allowance. Recording-session limits are 45 minutes on Free, 2 hours on Pro and 3 hours on Max. Enterprise allowances depend on the contract. A successful upload does not establish an unlimited file-size allowance.

Test Results

The input was a 150-second excerpt from the supplied Product Marketing Meeting recording. Both products received identical bytes. We completed 3 uploads per product, changing which product went first across pairs. Only the first pair received the matching summary and action-item prompts.

Transcripts and Summaries

Notta initially rendered only part of the transcript. Scrolling exposed the remaining passages through the end of the excerpt. ScreenApp also exposed the final passage. This establishes access to the short transcript, not word-level correctness.

Both summary answers used the requested Discussion, Agreed Decisions and Unresolved Proposals headings and stayed within the 180-word request. Counts use whitespace splitting and include headings. Notta’s repeated citation labels explain the difference between its two counts. Shorter does not mean more accurate.

Both answers discussed feature grouping, VS Code and an unresolved monthly-active-users metric. A human has not checked every statement against the audio, so we have not scored omissions, invented details or speaker identities.

Action Items

Both prompted answers identified adding VS Code to the list and left the deadline unstated. Notta named Speaker0; ScreenApp used Meeting Lead. Those are output labels, not verified participant identities. Both pointed to the same point in the clip, with different timestamp formatting.

ScreenApp’s response showed additional recording references. Its answer cannot be treated as an isolated extraction from this upload. Notta’s native notes and Brain response also used different speaker-label numbering. These differences need audio review before either answer is called correct.

Recording and Languages

Notta offers a web app, Mac and Windows desktop apps, a Chrome extension and iOS and Android apps. Its documented meeting bot covers Webex as well as Zoom, Teams and Google Meet. ScreenApp has a meeting bot and device-recording options; its mobile apps record audio rather than the phone screen. We did not join a live meeting, install a desktop recorder or evaluate mobile capture in this pilot.

Notta lists 58 transcription languages, while ScreenApp lists 100+. Coverage lists do not establish accuracy in a particular language. Our clip was English; we did not test Sinhala, translation or bilingual audio.

Notta sells expanded monolingual translation access at $10 monthly or $6 per month billed annually, and bilingual transcription/translation access at $15 monthly or $9 per month billed annually. Check the included trial uses and add-on eligibility on your plan. ScreenApp translation uses its AI allowance; we did not compare translation outputs.

Notta’s upload guide applies a 3-hour duration limit when speaker recognition is enabled. This differs from the paid plan’s maximum accessible transcript length. Check the specific import settings before uploading a long meeting.

Exports, Sharing and Integrations

Notta places transcript downloads on Pro and above. Its plan guide lists link sharing on Free and team-workspace sharing on Business. Native cloud-drive connections start on Pro, with CRM and Zapier on Business. We did not download an export, connect an integration or test a shared link from another account.

ScreenApp’s product store lists PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT transcript exports and paid media downloads. Free transcript-export access has a policy-versus-implementation discrepancy in the current store; we have not verified Free access and do not count it as an established advantage. ScreenApp exposes API keys and an MCP connector. Webhooks remain unreleased in the product store, despite broader wording on the public pricing page.

Sources: Notta sharing and integration tiers, ScreenApp export help and ScreenApp MCP connector. For synchronized workflows, test the actual destination and access permissions before choosing a subscription.

Privacy and Security

Both tests uploaded media to web services. Notta’s separately documented desktop Privacy Mode is a Pro feature; this cloud-upload test says nothing about its on-device behavior. Its security page reports SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 and describes HIPAA safeguards. We did not inspect audit reports or establish suitability for regulated data.

ScreenApp’s published security information describes its data handling and subprocessors. Its current product store does not list SSO/SAML or HIPAA support. Neither tool underwent a security audit here, and we did not verify deletion, retention or recipient permissions.

The public images contain cropped AI responses. We have not republished the input meeting video or raw account captures. Sources checked 24 September 2026: Notta security, Notta Privacy Mode eligibility and ScreenApp security.

How We Tested

Date and environment: 24 September 2026, Chrome incognito on macOS in Sri Lanka. Accounts: Notta Free, with English selected and speaker identification enabled, versus ScreenApp Pro with default transcription settings. Notta displayed Universal Engine. Connection speed was not measured.

Input and completion: the same 150-second MP4 bytes, identified by a retained SHA-256 hash. The excerpt was newly encoded, but ScreenApp had processed its source content before. Completion meant the transcript was readable through the excerpt’s end. Repeat uploads tested completion, not repeated AI quality.

Collection: assisted browser interaction, saved transcript text, native notes, prompt responses and reviewed screenshots. Later output-review recordings revisit saved answers. Original trial captures were excluded after a capture-boundary failure; they supply no timing evidence. A mistaken desktop-download click and an initial prompt sent without its text were recorded separately, then corrected before the matching prompts were submitted.

Read the Identical Prompts

Summary: Summarize this meeting in no more than 180 words. Use headings Discussion, Agreed Decisions, and Unresolved Proposals. Include only information supported by the transcript. Do not invent decisions, owners or deadlines.

Action items: List only explicitly assigned action items from this meeting. For each, give the task, owner, deadline including timezone if stated, and supporting timestamp. Write "Not stated" for missing details. Separately list proposed or unassigned work. Do not invent commitments.

What This Test Does Not Establish

Different plans, unmatched model/settings and unverified retrieval scope prevent a controlled quality comparison. There is no human-corrected reference transcript, word error rate or reliable speed comparison. We did not test long recordings, noisy or multilingual audio, live meetings, export contents, integration synchronization or shared-link access. The observations describe this upload pilot, not typical performance across all accounts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Notta Transcribe an Uploaded Video Without a Live Meeting?

Yes. Our short MP4 uploads completed on Notta Free. Its import guide documents audio and video uploads, subject to the plan’s file quota and accessible transcript length.

Does Notta Free Show the Whole Recording?

Its published accessible transcript limit is 3 minutes per recording. Our shorter excerpt was fully accessible after scrolling. We did not test access to a longer recording on Free.

Which Tool Is More Accurate or Faster?

This pilot does not establish either. Both completed the uploads, but reliable comparative timing and human audio verification are missing. Summary length and a visible timestamp are not accuracy scores.

Are Notta Summaries and Brain Questions the Same Allowance?

No. Notta lists native AI summary quotas and a separate Brain credit allowance. Our account generated both, but those observations do not establish unlimited access or the same behavior on every plan.

Which Subscription Costs Less?

Notta has the lower listed Pro subscription price in both billing periods. ScreenApp counts transcriptions and AI turns differently, so compare your recording length, upload volume, export needs and AI usage against the allowances above.
