What this is and is not
ScreenApp has a meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. It joins the meeting as a participant and records it.
There is no ScreenApp app in the Teams app store, and ScreenApp does not read Teams’ own recordings or transcripts out of SharePoint or OneDrive. It records the meeting itself.
Option 1: send the meeting bot
- Connect your calendar in ScreenApp. Both Google Calendar and Microsoft Calendar are supported, so scheduled Teams meetings can be picked up automatically.
- Choose which meetings the bot joins, or paste a meeting link directly.
- The bot joins and records. It shows in the participant list. Tell people they are being recorded.
- When the meeting ends, the recording goes through transcription and summarising in your library.
The bot is open source and you can run your own copy. The code is at github.com/screenappai/meeting-bot.
Option 2: record the meeting yourself
Useful when the Teams client is a desktop window rather than a browser tab, or when guests cannot admit a bot.
- Install the desktop app or the Chrome extension. ScreenApp records screen, window, browser tab, microphone and camera, with system audio.
- Record the Teams window with system audio for the length of the meeting.
- Stop when it ends. Processing starts straight away.
Recording length is capped by plan: 45 minutes on Free, 2 hours on Pro, 3 hours on Max.
What you get back
The transcript comes with speaker identification and clicking a moment in the transcript jumps the player to that point in the recording. Templates produce meeting minutes and a follow-up email draft. The action items template gives you action items with an owner and deadline, and decisions listed separately. You can AI chat with any recording, search across recordings by name or transcript, and export as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT. Transcription covers 100+ languages.
Frequently asked questions
Does the bot need to be admitted from the lobby?
Often, yes. Teams puts external participants in the lobby, so someone in the meeting has to let it in.
Can I record a Teams call on my phone?
ScreenApp has iOS and Android apps for recording audio, but recording another app’s call from a phone is restricted by the operating system. Use the bot or a desktop recording.
Does ScreenApp post the summary into a Teams channel?
No. There is no ScreenApp app in Teams and no auto-posting. Copy the summary in, or pull it with an API key and your own script.
