Transcribe a Twitch VOD, Get the Transcript and Notes
Paste the link to a public Twitch VOD or clip into ScreenApp above and it turns it into a searchable transcript with speaker labels and AI notes, no download needed. It imports links from YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and most other public video links (Twitch, Loom, Dropbox, Google Drive, Pinterest, X, Threads, Douyin, Kuaishou, Bilibili) through a generic importer, and Twitch is one of them. Read the summary instead of scrubbing back through hours of footage to find a moment.
A live stream that is still going, or a VOD locked behind a subscription or login, will not import from the link, since the importer needs a finished, public video and cannot sign in on your behalf. For one of those, record the stream yourself as it plays, or download the VOD, and upload that file instead. Once it is uploaded, the rest of the job (transcription, notes, chapters, search) works the same way as any other recording.
What you get:
- A transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, in 100+ languages
- AI notes: a summary and the key moments the AI picks out
- Chapters, so a long VOD is split by topic
- Ask AI questions about the stream and get answers that point to the moment in the recording
- Export as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT
- Free plan: 2 transcriptions of recordings up to 45 minutes each, with AI chat on it
How to Transcribe a Twitch VOD
- Paste the VOD or clip link into ScreenApp above. It fetches a public Twitch video on its own.
- If the link does not import (a subscriber-only VOD or a stream still live), download the VOD from Twitch, save a clip, or record the stream yourself while it plays, capturing the browser tab or window with its audio. Then upload that file instead.
- Read the transcript and notes: speaker labels, timestamps, a summary and chapters are ready a few minutes later. Search the text or ask a question about the stream.
Accuracy depends on the source audio. A clean VOD with one or two speakers transcribes well; a stream with loud background music, overlapping chat callouts, or heavy accents will have more gaps. See how we measure accuracy.

- vs VocaScript: both take a Twitch URL directly. VocaScript’s free plan is capped at 3 a day as a guest, 15 a day signed in (up to 120 minutes a month) and free exports are TXT only; ScreenApp’s free plan exports transcripts as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT.
- vs Otter.ai: Otter has no Twitch import either, so a VOD still has to be downloaded first for either tool. Otter’s free plan is 300 minutes a month across 6 languages; ScreenApp transcribes in 100+.
- vs Sonix: Sonix gives a one-time 30-minute trial, then $25 a month. ScreenApp’s free plan is 2 transcriptions of recordings up to 45 minutes each, lifetime, with AI notes included.
Who Transcribes Twitch VODs
Content creators upload a VOD after a stream to pull quotes and highlight timestamps for clips, video descriptions, and social posts, instead of re-watching the whole session.
Editors search the transcript for a phrase or reaction instead of scrubbing the timeline, then jump straight to that timestamp in the source file.
Viewers who missed a stream upload a saved VOD or a clip and read the summary to decide which parts are worth watching in full.
Researchers studying streaming culture transcribe VODs to search and quote from them, rather than taking notes while re-watching hours of footage.
