Record a Google Meet Call and Get the Transcript
This is a Chrome extension that records tab, screen, mic and camera, so it captures a Google Meet call from your own browser instead of adding a bot to the meeting. Other participants see the same attendee list they would without any recording tool running.
Reading a transcript afterward is faster than replaying the recording, and you can ask a question about the call instead of scrubbing back and forth to find a moment.
What you get:
- Recording from screen, window, browser tab, microphone and camera, with system audio
- Video at up to 4K, depending on the computer
- A transcript with speaker identification, in 100+ languages
- AI notes: a summary of what was discussed
- AI chat with any recording, so you can ask a question instead of re-reading the transcript
- Free plan: 2 transcriptions of recordings up to 45 minutes each, with AI chat
- Downloading the original recording needs a paid plan (Paid plans only)
If you would rather have a bot join the call automatically from your calendar, ScreenApp also has a meeting bot for Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams: see the AI meeting assistant for that option.
How to Record a Google Meet Call
- Add the extension: Install ScreenApp from the Chrome Web Store. The icon appears in your toolbar, no separate account setup needed to start.
- Join and start recording: Open your Google Meet call as normal, then click the extension icon and choose what to capture: tab, screen, microphone or camera, with system audio.
- Read the notes: Stop the recording and the transcript and AI notes are ready in your ScreenApp library a few minutes later.
Accuracy depends on the audio: a clear microphone or a clean tab feed works well, while several people talking over each other or a poor connection leaves gaps. See how we measure accuracy.

Who Uses a Google Meet Recording Extension
Business professionals record client meetings, sales calls, and team check-ins for reference, then review decisions from the transcript instead of taking notes during the call.
Remote teams capture brainstorming sessions, planning meetings, and status updates so people in other time zones can watch or read the summary later.
Educators and teachers record lectures and parent-teacher conferences held over Google Meet, so students who missed the class can review the transcript afterward.
Students record online classes and study groups, then search the transcript instead of relistening to the whole session before an exam.
Interviewers and HR teams record job interviews and candidate presentations for fair review, and share the transcript with hiring managers instead of scheduling a repeat conversation.
Content creators capture podcast interviews and panel discussions held over Google Meet in HD, then pull quotes from the transcript for show notes or a blog post.
