About Buddhika

Buddhika is ScreenApp's CTO and one of its co-founders, an engineer before anything else. His academic work at the University of Moratuwa was in computer vision and image processing, the OpenCV detection-and-classification kind, and he co-authored a peer-reviewed IEEE paper. It is the part of his background that shows up whenever ScreenApp has to look at a video frame and work out what is in it.

He knows the live side of video just as well. He has built WebRTC-based communication systems and worked hands-on with the plumbing behind video calls, including Jitsi, Coturn, and Kurento Media Server. That is the world of Meetrix, the open-source, Jitsi-based video conferencing company, where recording and streaming real-time video is the whole job.

Across his career he has helped build products well beyond ScreenApp: Meetrix on the video-infrastructure side, Tutopiya in online tutoring, Siplo, and Carevo, a sister product the ScreenApp team runs. The common thread is shipping software people actually use, not demos.

At ScreenApp those two threads, image processing and real-time video, come together. He works across recording, transcription, summarization, and video analysis, plus the infrastructure underneath. When a page here explains how the product detects scenes, recognizes objects, captures a meeting, or handles a particular file, that is the corner he checks for accuracy.
