Cut an MP3, Get the Trimmed Section

ScreenApp’s MP3 cutter trims a section out of an audio file in your browser. Upload the file, drag the waveform to mark the start and end points, and download the cut. There is nothing to install.

The tool works two ways: trim to keep only the section you selected, or cut to remove that section and join what is left. Either way, trims or cuts a selected region, adjusts volume, and adds fade in and fade out, then exports the result as a WAV file.

What you get:

How to Cut an MP3

  1. Upload the file: Add an MP3, WAV, or other audio file. Accepted formats are MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG and FLAC, up to 2 GB on the free plan.
  2. Mark the section: Drag the start and end handles on the waveform, or switch to cut mode to remove that section instead of keeping it. Add fade in or fade out if the cut needs a smoother start or end.
  3. Download the result: The tool renders your selection with the volume and fade settings applied and gives you a WAV file to save.

An uploaded MP3 comes back as a WAV file: the cutter decodes the audio to work with it, then writes a fresh file rather than re-encoding the original compressed format.

Who Cuts MP3 Files

Podcast editors trim intro music, remove dead air, and pull a section out for a teaser clip.

Musicians and DJs cut a section of a track to sample, loop for practice, or share a short excerpt.

Content creators pull an audio quote or a background music bed for a video project, without opening a full audio editor.

Ringtone makers cut a short section of a song to use as a phone ringtone.

Students and teachers cut a lecture or interview recording down to the part they need to review or share.

FAQ

Is the MP3 cutter free?

Yes, up to a point. The free plan gives you 3 uploads, each up to 2 GB. Beyond that, Pro is $19 a month billed annually.

What file do I get after cutting?

A WAV file. The cutter decodes your upload to work with it and writes a new file when you download, so an MP3 you upload comes back as WAV rather than a re-encoded MP3.

Can I cut a section out instead of keeping it?

Yes. Switch to cut mode and the section between your start and end points is removed, with the audio on either side joined together. Trim mode does the opposite: it keeps only the section you selected.

Can I add fade in or fade out?

Yes. Turn on fade in, fade out, or both on the section you are keeping, and they are applied when you download.

Does the cutter change volume?

Yes, you can raise or lower the volume of the selected section before downloading.

Do I need to install software?

No. The cutter runs in your browser at screenapp.io. There is nothing to download to your computer.

Does the cutter work on mobile?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets, and desktop through a modern browser.

What audio formats can I upload?

Real Results from Real Users

I have tried at least 6 different ways to transcribe meetings and get summaries: Notion with AI, HiNotes with HiDock as hardware, Plaud with different hardware, Teams agents. Every tool did a part of the job, but not one of them delivered on all my requirements. ScreenApp goes far beyond my expectations. It has the video ready if I need to re-watch a meeting.
