Turn a Voice Memo into a Transcript and AI Notes

Upload the voice memo file from your phone, an M4A, MP3, or WAV, or record one directly in the ScreenApp mobile app or the browser. Either way you get a transcript back with speaker labels, and AI notes that pull out the key points instead of leaving you to relisten to the whole thing.

This tool reads the audio directly, transcribes it, and writes the notes in one pass.

For a longer recording, like a full meeting or lecture, the same upload flow applies; only the length of the notes changes.

What you get:

How to Turn a Voice Memo into Notes

  1. Get the file, or record one: Export or share the memo from your phone’s voice memo app as an M4A or MP3 file, or open the ScreenApp mobile app and record one directly. iOS and Android apps record offline.
  2. Upload it: Drop the file into the upload area, or the recording syncs automatically once you are back online. Processing runs in the background.
  3. Read the transcript and notes: Come back a few minutes later to the transcript and the AI notes. Search for a word, jump to a timestamp, or ask a question about the memo.

Accuracy depends on the recording. A memo said clearly into the phone in a quiet room transcribes well; one recorded in a car or a crowded room will have gaps. See how we measure accuracy.

Who Uses a Voice Memo Notetaker

Students record a quick memo between classes to capture a reminder or an idea, then get back a transcript they can search instead of retyping it later.

Business professionals dictate a memo after a call or a meeting and want the key points written down without typing them out themselves.

Writers and content creators record ideas on the move and turn the memo into a working outline instead of a voice file sitting unheard in an app.

Journalists record a quick note or a phone interview and need a searchable transcript to quote from accurately.

Researchers dictate observations in the field, then read the AI notes later instead of relistening to every memo in order.

Medical professionals record a memo between patients and get a transcript to reference, though clinical documentation still needs a review process suited to that use.

FAQ

Is it free?

Yes. The free plan includes 2 transcriptions of recordings up to 45 minutes each, with the transcript, AI notes, and AI chat on each one. Paid plans start at $19 a month billed annually.

What voice memo file formats work?

MP3, M4A, MP4A, M4B, AAC, WAV, OGG, OPUS, FLAC, AIFF, WMA, WEBMA, MKA, AC3, EAC3, WV, AMR, DSF, DFF, including the M4A file that Apple's Voice Memos app exports. Export or share the memo as a file first, then upload it here.

Can I record a voice memo directly instead of uploading one?

Accuracy depends on the recording: a memo said clearly in a quiet room transcribes better than one recorded with background noise. Full benchmarks by language and condition are on the accuracy page.

Does it identify different speakers in one memo?

Yes. speaker identification is included, useful if a memo has more than one voice, such as a quick recorded conversation.

What languages does it support?

100+ languages, auto-detected. See the full list on the accuracy page.

Can I export the notes?

Yes, as PDF, DOCX, TXT, SRT and VTT. Timestamps stay clickable in formats that support links.
