Record Instagram Lives, Reels and Stories

Instagram live recorder captures your screen and audio in the browser, so you can save an Instagram Live, Reel, Story or voice message before it disappears. There is nothing to install: open the tool, select what to capture, and record.

Instagram Stories disappear from the feed and Direct after 24 hours unless the poster saves them as a highlight, and Lives are not kept by Instagram once the broadcast ends. Recording your own screen while you watch is the only way to keep a copy of content Instagram itself does not save.

What you get:

  • Screen, browser tab, microphone and camera capture, so video and audio are recorded together
  • A recording you can review, download, or upload straight to your ScreenApp library
  • Works on desktop and mobile browsers, no app download for the recorder itself
  • Free plan: one recording of up to 45 minutes, with AI chat on it
  • No watermark on any recording or export

Recordings are stored in your account and open on any device where you sign in.

How to Record an Instagram Live

  1. Open the recorder: Start ScreenApp in your browser and choose the screen, window, or browser tab showing Instagram.
  2. Play the Live, Reel, or Story: Record while the content plays. The tool captures video and audio together, including system audio if you turn it on.
  3. Save your recording: Stop the recording and it saves to your library. Download the file or keep it there to review later.

Recording quality depends on your device and connection. A stable screen recording of a Live playing at full size works better than a small, buffering window. See how ScreenApp handles recording.

Who Uses an Instagram Live Recorder

Content creators record their own Instagram Lives so they can re-edit the footage, clip highlights, or repost a Reel-length section afterward.

Social media managers save competitors’ Instagram Lives and campaign content for research, without relying on the platform to keep a copy.

Educators and coaches record Instagram Live Q&A sessions and tutorials so students can watch them again after the broadcast ends.

Businesses archive product launches and announcements streamed on Instagram Live for internal reference or compliance records.

Anyone watching a Story or voice message that will disappear can record their screen while it plays, since Instagram does not offer a built-in way to keep it.

FAQ

What is an Instagram live recorder?

It is a screen recording tool that captures Instagram Lives, Reels, Stories, and voice content while you watch them, so you keep a copy before Instagram removes it.

Is there a free way to record Instagram Live?

Yes. ScreenApp’s free plan includes one recording of up to 45 minutes, with AI chat on that recording.

Do I need to download an app to record Instagram Live?

No. The recorder runs in your browser. Recording works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Can I record Instagram voice messages and call audio?

Yes. The recorder captures screen, window, browser tab, microphone and camera, with system audio, so it picks up voice messages, call audio, and the sound from Lives and Reels along with the video.

Can I record Instagram content on my phone?

Yes, through iOS and Android apps, or by using a mobile browser.

Can I use ChatGPT to record Instagram Live?

No. ChatGPT works with text and images, not live audio or video, so it cannot capture a Live stream or a disappearing Story. You need a screen recorder for that, and can paste a transcript into ChatGPT afterward if you want a summary.

Can I record someone else’s Instagram Live or Story?

Recording your own screen while you watch is different from what Instagram tells the person you are watching. Check Instagram’s own terms and the person’s expectations, and get permission before sharing what you record.

Are my Instagram recordings private?

Yes. Recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest with AES-256, are not used to train AI models, and are only shared if you create a share link. ScreenApp’s security controls are published on its trust center.

Real Results from Real Users

I have tried at least 6 different ways to transcribe meetings and get summaries: Notion with AI, HiNotes with HiDock as hardware, Plaud with different hardware, Teams agents. Every tool did a part of the job, but not one of them delivered on all my requirements. ScreenApp goes far beyond my expectations. It has the video ready if I need to re-watch a meeting.
