Set up the microphone
Open the audio recorder and choose audio recording. Allow microphone access and select the device you intend to use. Speak a short sentence, then play a test recording to check the actual sound.
A moving level meter shows that a signal is arriving. Playback tells you whether it is your voice, whether the microphone is too far away and whether another sound is drowning it out.
Record and save
- Start recording and confirm the recorder is running.
- Keep the microphone position steady while speaking.
- Stop using the recorder controls.
- Wait for saving and upload to finish.
- Open the result and check the beginning and end.

Review the transcript
After transcription, listen while checking names and numbers. Rename speakers where the source makes their identity clear. A microphone recording of several people can contain overlapping speech that is difficult to separate.

Improve noisy audio
Check recording preferences before a new session. For an existing recording, ask AI to remove background noise and create a cleaned copy. Compare both versions because cleanup can change speech quality. See noise cleanup.
If recording fails
Check browser permissions and the selected microphone. Preserve pending recordings before resetting browser storage; a recording may still be waiting to upload. Follow recording troubleshooting and missing audio help.
