Troubleshooting

Slow Transcription

Fixing the issue of transcript generation taking too long

Transcription runs on our servers, not on your computer, so your machine’s speed does not affect it. What does affect it is how long the file is, how long it takes to upload, and how busy the queue is. A one hour recording is usually transcribed within 5 to 10 minutes of finishing the upload.

How to Resolve It

  1. Check Internet Connection:
  • The file has to finish uploading before transcription can start. A slow connection delays that.
  • Try a different network, or a wired connection.
  1. Optimize Audio Quality:
  • Ensure your recorded audio is clear and free from background noise.
  • Cleaner audio improves transcription accuracy. ScreenApp does not remove background noise, so record somewhere quiet.
  1. Add Custom Vocabulary:
  1. Consider Shorter Recordings:
  • If you’re dealing with long recordings, breaking them down into smaller segments can accelerate transcription.
  • Processing shorter segments might be faster than transcribing a lengthy file.
  1. Report the Issue:
  • If a transcript has been pending for more than an hour, email support@screenapp.io with the recording link.

Additional Tips

  • You can close the tab once the upload is finished. Transcription continues on our side and the transcript will be waiting in your library.
  • Recordings longer than 12 hours cannot be transcribed. See managing long transcriptions.
