Recording and Transcription

Transcribe a YouTube video

Import a YouTube link and check whether the result uses captions or audio transcription.

  1. Copy the YouTube video URL.
  2. Paste it into ScreenApp’s link-import input and submit it.
  3. Open the imported result once processing finishes.
  4. Read the transcript and check important wording against the video.

Captions and audio transcription

When usable captions are available, the import can use them. If the pipeline instead transcribes audio, the result depends on audio quality, language and speaker overlap. These paths can produce different punctuation, timing and speaker information.

Processing time varies with the source and selected path. A past benchmark does not guarantee a completion time for your video. See Accuracy and Methodology for measured results and limitations.

A video will not import

Check that the URL is accessible and does not require private credentials. See URL import troubleshooting.

For an incorrect transcript, check transcription language and corrections. Use the transcript’s export control when you need a file; download allowances apply.
