How to Download Telegram Videos: Saving, Export and Restrictions

Save a Telegram Video
Open the video in Telegram and check its menu for a save or download option. The available control depends on your app and the post. If saving is unavailable, check whether the channel restricts saving or ask the sender for the original file.
This guide uses Telegram’s own documentation. It does not claim that a bot, browser extension or ScreenApp can download every Telegram post.
Export Chat Media with Telegram Desktop
Telegram documents a desktop export tool for conversations and media. Open the chat menu and choose Export chat history, or use Settings > Advanced > Export Telegram Data for an account export. Select the media you need and follow the app’s export controls. See Telegram’s export instructions.
The export can include a readable HTML history or JSON data. Keep the exported media files with the history if you want to open them later. Telegram describes these formats in its export announcement.
Why a Video Cannot Be Saved
Channel and group owners can enable protected content. Telegram documents restrictions on forwarding, copying, screenshots and media saving. See Telegram’s content-protection documentation.
Being able to watch a video does not guarantee that the app permits downloading it. Ask the sender or channel owner for a downloadable copy when saving is restricted. Screen recording is not a guaranteed workaround.
Using a Saved Video in ScreenApp

A Telegram post link is not the same as an uploaded media file, and this guide does not promise direct import of private Telegram posts.

How do I download videos from a private channel?
Check the video's menu in your Telegram app. Access to a private channel does not override its saving restrictions. If no download is available, request a copy from the sender or owner.

Will a downloader bot bypass protected content?
