Get the source link
Copy the video page or direct media link you want to import. Use content you own or are authorized to save. A link that plays in your signed-in browser may still be inaccessible to a remote importer.
Open the downloader, choose Link and paste the URL. Start the import and read the result. Availability depends on the source site, access restrictions and the specific link.
Check the imported recording
- Wait for the import to finish.
- Open the resulting recording.
- Check its duration, picture and sound against the source you expected.
- Use the recording’s download action to save the available output.
- Open the downloaded file before relying on it offline.
Source quality constrains the result. Do not assume the importer upgrades resolution or that every source has a selectable quality menu.
When a link does not work
Check that the URL points to the video rather than a profile, search result or playlist. If access requires a login, payment or membership, the importer may not be able to retrieve it.
When you have permission and the platform provides a download, save the source there and upload that file to ScreenApp. Repeatedly changing the URL does not remove an access restriction. See upload and import troubleshooting.
Use the recording afterwards
A processed recording can have a transcript and AI-generated notes. Review the transcript before using it as a quotation. To export text, choose the transcript download rather than the media download.
Download help explains the separate recording, transcript and document actions. Download access covers account restrictions.
