Save a Reddit Video, With the Sound

If you have ever saved a Reddit video and played it back to silence, you are not doing anything wrong. That is Reddit’s own quirk, and it is worth understanding before you paste anything.
Why Reddit Videos Come Out Silent
Reddit hosts its videos on v.redd.it, and it stores the picture and the sound as two completely separate files. The video track is one URL, the audio track is another. A basic downloader grabs the video file, hands it to you, and never touches the audio, so you get a clean 1080p clip with no sound and no clue why.
This tool fetches both streams and muxes them back into one MP4. The audio is there. That is the whole reason to use this instead of right-clicking the video, which only ever gets you the silent half.
Not every Reddit video has audio in the first place, plenty are genuinely silent uploads. But when the original had sound, you get it.
How to Download a Reddit Video
- On the post, tap Share, then Copy link. On desktop, copy the post URL from the address bar. Either the full
reddit.com/r/...link or the shortredd.it/...share link works. - Paste it into the box on this page.
- Download. The MP4 saves to your device, to Downloads on desktop or the Files app on a phone.
Paste the link to the post, not to the subreddit or a user profile. The post link is the one that points at the actual video.
The Ones That Trip People Up
- Crossposts. If you are on a crosspost, the video usually lives on the original post it was shared from. If the paste comes back empty, open the source post and copy that link instead.
- Reddit GIFs. Half the “GIFs” on Reddit are actually MP4 videos, so they download as MP4, not
.gif. That is normal and it is the better format anyway. - NSFW posts. Some are gated behind an over-18 check that needs a logged-in session. The tool reads a public request, so a post that will not load for a signed-out visitor will not download either.
- Private, quarantined, and deleted. Private subreddits, quarantined communities, and deleted posts are out. If you cannot open it in a browser without logging in or being a member, a downloader cannot reach it.
